Coaching: When You’re Ready for Something More

April 1, 2026

When I was visiting my parents recently, my mom asked how my podcast was going and what I thought my next steps might be. Somewhere in that conversation, I found myself trying to explain why someone would hire a coach. And honestly… I fumbled around quite a bit. I knew what coaching had done for me, but I couldn’t articulate it in a way that felt clear or true.

So I sat with it. And here’s what I realized.

You Need Someone Who Has Been There

If you’re fortunate, you probably have a great circle of people around you—friends who’ve known you forever, family who loves you, maybe even a mentor or someone in your field you admire. These people matter deeply. They cheer you on, they want the best for you, and they hold you through the ups and downs.

But what happens when you want to try something new—something no one in your circle has done before? What happens when you want to grow in a direction that feels unfamiliar, or stretch into a version of yourself you haven’t met yet?

That’s where things get tricky.

Friends often share our same experiences and perspectives. That’s why we’re friends. Family wants us safe and happy, which sometimes means they don’t understand why we’d risk shaking up a “good thing.” And some people give great advice but haven’t actually walked the talk.

So where do you go when you want to grow beyond what your current world can offer?

For a long time, I tried to figure it out myself. I changed jobs, changed roles, started new projects, launched a podcast—always searching for the thing that would click. And while each new chapter taught me something, I eventually found myself right back where I started. I’m resourceful, I love learning, and I’m very comfortable with free content. But when it came to paying for support? I was stingy. I told myself I should be able to figure it out on my own.

Then one fall, I signed up for a free workshop led by a woman I’d met years earlier. She was lit up—fully in her element—and the way she taught made something in me wake up. For the first time, I felt genuinely curious about what coaching could offer. We met one‑on‑one, and I realized how important it is to find someone whose energy and approach actually align with what you want to explore.

So I joined her leadership cohort. And it changed everything.

The Power of Unbiased Feedback

I was blown away by the content, the conversations, and the women I met from all over the country. I made huge strides in becoming more myself—both as a leader and as a human. I learned how to bring my values into my work and my family life. And I discovered something I didn’t expect: paying for the experience made me show up differently. It created accountability. It made me take myself seriously.

That group saw me step into the hardest role of my career. They offered support without bias, without history, without emotional entanglement. They reinforced things I had heard before but never fully believed because they came from people who loved me. And they gave feedback I could actually receive—clean, honest, and rooted in growth.

That’s the thing about coaching:
You get feedback without the emotional weight. And you get accountability without the shame.

Accountability is Crucial

Most of us haven’t had someone consistently checking in on our personal goals since school. Maybe your boss does that at work, but who’s checking in on the goals you have for your life? Your creativity? Your leadership? Your sense of self?

When I’ve had a coach, I’ve grown faster, deeper, and more intentionally than I ever could have on my own. Coaching helped me become more aligned with who I am and how I want to lead. It helped me create a life that feels like mine.

And now, I want to offer that same experience to others.

For the months of April and May, I’m opening five – free one‑on‑one coaching sessions for anyone who wants to explore what coaching could look like for them. When you sign up, you’ll get a short email with a few questions so I can tailor the session to your goals.
